Flannel Friday - PIZZA

Happy half birthday to Flannel Friday! Six whole months of non-stop creativeness!

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of using the song "B-I-N-G-O" for any five letter word I can think of. Next week's pizza storytime is a prime example. I used Google Images for the pictures and enlarged them. The letters were made using the largest sized font in Word. Everything was laminated and velcroed on the back. All in all an easy and fun flannel board to make.

 "P-I-Z-Z-A"
There is a food I really like and it is very yummy.
P-I-Z-Z-A
P-I-Z-Z-A
P-I-Z-Z-A
And pizza is its name-o.

On my pizza I like cheese, and it is very yummy.
P-I-Z-Z-A
P-I-Z-Z-A
P-I-Z-Z-A
And pizza is its name-o.

Continue with pepperoni, peppers, mushrooms, and any other pizza topping you want to add.

"Good Morning"
We sing this song every storytime, but today it was extra special!
Good morning, good morning
Good morning to you
Good morning, good morning
And how do you do?
-- Miss Lucy at the Amherst Public Libraries in Amherst, NY

"Mr. Sun"
Oh Mr. Sun, Sun,
Mr. Golden Sun
Won’t you please shine down on me?
Oh Mr. Sun, Sun,
Mr. Golden Sun
Hiding behind a tree.
These little children are asking you
To please come out so they can
Play with you.
Oh Mr. Sun, Sun,
Mr. Golden Sun
Won’t you please shine down on me?
--Traditional

"In the Morning"
--Kathy MacMillan, Children’s Programming Monthly volume 1, number 5, pg. 5

"Five Toothbrushes"
5 little toothbrushes hanging in a row,
Red, orange, green, blue, and yellow.
Along comes Mommy to the bathroom door,
She brushes her teeth, and now there are 4.
--Kathy MacMillan, Children’s Programming Monthly volume 1, number 5, pg. 5

Songs

"Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear"
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear
Teddy Bear, teddy bear
Turn around
Teddy bear, teddy bear
Touch the ground
Teddy bear, teddy bear
Show your shoe
Teddy bear, teddy bear
That will do
Teddy bear, teddy bear
Go to bed
Teddy bear, teddy bear
Rest your head
Teddy bear, teddy bear
Turn out the light
Teddy bear, teddy bear
Say good night
--Traditional

"Bedtime Ticklebug"
-- Kathy MacMillan and Christine Kirker Children’s Programming Monthly, volume 1 issue, number 5, pg. 18.

"Four Little Stars" on the felt board
Four little stars
winking at me.
One shot off,
and then there were three!
Three little stars
with nothing to do.
One shot off,
and then there were two!
Two little stars
Afraid of the sun.
One shot off,
and then there was one!
One little star
Alone is no fun.
It shot off,
and then there was none!

Flannel Friday - No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed!

TGI Flannel Friday!

After many years of going without, I finally made a bed for my Five Little Monkeys so that they could jump on it. I found a clipart picture of a bed, then printed it out on cardstock. I then cut out the individual pieces so that I'd have a stencil. Behold!

Flannel Friday - The Bremen Town Musicians

TGI Flannel Friday! This week is my felt version of "The Bremen Town Musicans". It's a story that I've always loved to tell, and I found templates in The Flannel Board Storytelling Book by Judy Sierra (H.W. Wilson Company, 1997).

Flannel Friday - Five Toothbrushes

Happy Flannel Friday! Today's entry was used for my Good Morning storytime today.

Five Toothbrushes
5 little toothbrushes hanging in a row,
Red, orange, green, blue, and yellow.
Along comes Mommy to the bathroom door,
She brushes her teeth, and now there are 4.

The song is from Kathy MacMillan's article in Children's Programming Monthly (volume 1 number 5).
